Up scaling Plans for Cash Transfer programmes presented to stakeholders

Up scaling plans for the five main Cash Transfer programmes in Kenya have been developed and were presented for endorsement by stakeholders at a meeting held in Nairobi on 22 August this year.

Secretary, Children Services MLSSS Ms Lydiah Muiru and Cornelia Tesliuc, World Bank  in  discussion during the Up Scaling Plans presentation meeting in Nairobi on 22 August 2013. Ms Muiru officiated the opening ceremony.

The expansion plans were prepared by members of the Targeting Working Group of the National Safety Net Programme (NSNP) and will provide clarity on the steps and procedures to be followed in the planned expansion under the NSNP and in the wake of increased government budget for Social Assistance programmes.

The plans also signify a major step towards harmonization of the main Cash Transfer programmmes, a key requirement under NSNP and cover the Orphaned and Vulnerable Children (CT-OVC) Persons With Severe Disabilities
PWSD), Urban Food Subsidy (UFS), Older Persons Cash Transfer programme (OPCT) and the Hunger Safety Net Programmes.

The Development of a consolidated report showing the expansion strategy per location, County and Constituency for approval by cabinet secretaries is currently in progress.
