The Principal Secretary, Ministry of Labour and East Africa Affairs, State Department of Social Security and Services, Susan Mochache officially opened the workshop.
The event was organized to provide key actors in Social Protection (SP) with insights on the SR platform ahead of its official launch, on a date yet to be confirmed. The forum was also aimed at getting feedback and input from the participants to enrich the platform before its roll-out to the rest of the staff and the wider public.
PS Mochache noted that the Single Registry had come at the moment of need, when Social Protection programmes in Kenya have grown significantly in terms of diversity, coverage and budgetary allocations, creating the need for better information management mechanism. This she said will help to address some of the challenges associated with the growth, for instance duplication of work by actors, sharing of information among actors and beneficiaries and data consolidation, all of which are key to efficiency and effectiveness of SP programmes.
PS Mochache thanked development partners including World Bank, World Food Programme, DFID and UNICEF for committing resources and time which ensured successful completion and operationalisation of the SR platform. She further said that there is still room for collaboration with development partners to enhance the robustness and scalability of the Single Registry system.
The PS also commended the teams from various Government agencies who she said devoted their time, resources and expertise to ensure the success of the initiative and called on the relevant officers present to maximise utilization of the platform in the course of their daily duties.
Participants included Heads of Departments from the ML&EAA, representatives from the National Drought Management Authority, World Bank, World Food Programme, UNICEF, DFID and Integrated Population Registration Services (IPRS). 
