Command Centre Established to Manage Distribution of Relief Food Supplies


The Government has established a command centre at the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) to manage distribution of relief food supplies to 29 droughthit
counties.

State Department of Social Protection and Special Programmes Principal Secretary Nelson Marwa said six more counties had now joined counties in the red alarm
phase of the drought, bringing to 29, counties severely affected by drought.

Speaking while overseeing the relief food distribution exercise at the NCPB on October 21, 2022, Mr Marwa said: ''The command centre was established after the President flagged off the first consignment of relief food meant for drought-stricken counties at State House on September 26, 2022.

The PS called for close cooperation between actors at the county level across the affected areas to allow relief food supplies to reach those in need.
